Diamond West Construction, LLC. is a reputable and growing construction company specializing in residential/commercial/industrial projects throughout the Arizona. We're committed to high-quality work, safety, and a strong team culture. We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable Estimator to join our crew.
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for a range of construction projects, including reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids, and assembling complete proposals. This role requires a solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs, the ability to manage multiple bids under deadline, and strong attention to detail. Effective communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients is essential, along with a commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and protecting the company's margins.

- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment across the trades your company self-performs.
- Solicit, coordinate, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to meet project scope, specifications, and budget requirements.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to understand site conditions, access, logistics, and potential risk factors.
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design-development, and hard-bid/GMP estimates as projects progress through each phase.
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes, level bids for apples-to-apples comparison, and make award recommendations.
- Define self-performed versus subcontracted scopes and identify long-lead items and cost risks early.
- Prepare and assemble complete, competitive proposals, including executive summaries and clarifications/exclusions.
- Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and ownership to ensure estimates align with means, methods, and schedule.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking records to support future estimating accuracy.
- Meet bid deadlines while managing multiple projects independently.
Qualifications

- Typically 5-7+ years of estimating experience in commercial or general construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Working knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Understanding of construction cost control and basic accounting/markup principles.
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software — commonly Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff/DESTINI, or HCSS HeavyBid for civil — plus strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships with subs, vendors, and clients.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
