We are seeking a qualified and self-driven Lead Technician with hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, troubleshooting, and network restoration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency and problem-solving abilities while managing field work independently or as part of a team. This role involves physically demanding work in varied environments and requires excellent planning, communication, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fiber prep and splicing on cables up to 432ct fiber sheaths, including Type A to D splice cases.
  • Operate and maintain fiber optic test and measurement tools including:
    • Fusion Splicer
    • OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
    • Power Meter
    • Light Indicator
  • Build and interpret fiber matrix documentation accurately.
  • Troubleshoot fiber networks and assist in diagnostics and problem resolution.
  • Plan and execute fiber installations and maintenance projects independently.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency fiber restoration.
  • Work safely in tight or elevated spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility closets, telco rooms).
  • Lift, carry, and transport tools and equipment (up to 75 lbs) across rough terrain and in all weather conditions.
  • Follow technical documentation, project blueprints, and customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (required).
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in using splicing and testing tools and interpreting fiber network documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make independent decisions in the field.
  • Certifications in Fiber Optics, Telecommunications, or related fields strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding environments and under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work nights/weekends for emergency restoration as needed.
